Cree Teacher

Sunchild First Nation School is seeking a second language Cree teacher.  The school administration is looking for an enthusiastic and creative teacher who is willing to join an incredible staff who bring experience, endless energy, and devotion to teaching aboriginal youth. The successful applicant needs to be highly organized, creative, and able to develop a safe, stimulating classroom environment centered on lessons that are actively engaging to students and encourage student success.

Sunchild School is a K to Grade 12 School with 350 students and 64 staff, many who have been working at the school for 12+ years. The staff are dedicated to student-centered programming that promotes academic excellence as well as exposing students to innovative extracurricular activities. The school is located 65 km Northwest of Rocky Mountain House. We have teacher housing available to interested new staff, competitive pension and benefit packages, as well as salaries comparable to the provincial school boards. Applicants who apply by noon on Thursday, January 9th will be given guaranteed consideration. Interviews will be conducted in person or via Skype on Tuesday, January 14th. Commencement of teaching duties will be determined upon selection of a successful candidate.

Teachers must be eligible for Alberta Teachers Certification, and have a willingness to be involved in extracurricular activities.
